I'm grateful for my family and my service to my country. Both taught me that doing the right thing often has no reward. We can't expect others to appreciate all we do for them. If praise is what we seek, then we really don't deserve it. The satisfaction of knowing someone else's life is better thanks to us should be reward enough. Still, it's always nice to hear the words thank you.

With that in mind, I'd like to thank everyone who has been so good to Maggie and I. She's well cared for here, and nothing matters more to me or the rest of our family. I know all of her teachers are working hard to help her catch up on her studies, and I feel blessed that she's made so many good friends. I appreciate everyone who is able to turn a blind eye to the fact that she's my niece and be good to her even if you don't care for me.

I'll never forgive myself for all the mistakes I've made in my life that have hurt those I love. All I can do is attempt to atone. True penance probably isn't possible for a vampire, but I'm working on it. So, I apologize for those of you who had to witness my suffering at Church this morning, but it's been so long since I've gone to confession, that I had to attempt it. Thankfully, Father has agreed to meet me elsewhere in the future.

The class schedule is set. For all those interested in taking self-defense lessons, they will be offered Monday through Thursday from 4:15 to 5:15. The very first week of classes will be used to establish your skill level. Come to class any day next week for an evaluation, and I will divide you up into groups for the weeks that follow. Because I know you all have busy and complicated schedules, I will teach multiple levels within the same class period each day. This will allow you the flexibility to come different days each week. And, if you want to learn faster, you're welcome to come multiple days in the same week. There are no grades. This class is all about learning to protect yourself. If you have any questions, feel free to post them here, contact me online, or just stop by my apartment.

I should also mention that I'm open to teaching advanced students about firearms, but for legal/safety reasons, I can't teach you those skills on campus. If you're interested, ask me directly, and we'll set up a schedule that works for both of us.

Looks like I'm staying put. For those of you who haven't heard the rumors yet, I'm starting up a self-defense program at TJS. It's an elective, and there are multiple skill levels to suit all of you, regardless of your experience. Kim help me put the plan together, and she'll be teaching the class with me, though her role will be somewhat limited for the time being. The classes are open to all ages, both male and female, and will utilize a variety of martial arts skills. We'll also go over ways to disable specific supernatural attackers by race.

I strongly encourage everyone to give it a chance. Give it a try. If you don't like it, you don't have to stick around. There will be no grade scale. This is about all of you learning to protect yourselves and your loved ones if necessary.
